Vermont Towns Vote to Arrest Bush and Cheney

March 18th, 2008

Earlier this month two towns in southern Vermont voted to have Bush and Cheney arrested for “crimes against our Constitution,” should they ever be foolish enough to pay one of the towns a visit. Interestingly, Vermont is the only state in our union that Bush has not yet visited.

The votes were held on primary day, Tuesday, March 4th. In Brattleboro the measure passed 2,012 to 1,795, while in Marlboro the non-binding measure was approved in a town meeting by 43 to 25.

One wonders whether the arresting officers could find some reason to spend a minute or two waterboarding the two prior to prosecution, impeachment, or extradition. Perhaps then we could finally learn the truth about Iraq’s WMDs, Valerie Plame, the FBI’s wiretaps, etc.? More likely they’d just tell the interrogators what they want to hear, proving the technique’s uselessness.

The conservative response to the news is all too predictable. I personally am counting the days (308) until a new administration puts the current one out of the world’s misery.
